Ricardo Roig

BIO:

Ricardo Roig is a trailblazing artist celebrated for creating his own distinct method of artistic expression—the Hand Cut Print. Drawing inspiration from traditional Japanese woodblock printing and elevating it through contemporary techniques, Roig has developed a process that brings vibrant, layered works to life. Using hand-cut stencils made from paper, each artwork is meticulously crafted by cutting shapes with an X-Acto knife and using a squeegee to apply acrylic inks through these stencils onto a screen.

Roig's unique method involves layering multiple stencils, each representing a different color, in a carefully orchestrated sequence. The result is a harmonious blend of shapes and hues, which, when overlaid, form striking images. His hand-cut prints are a testament to his mastery of color relationships and composition, creating dynamic visual narratives that feel both fresh and timeless.

Influenced by the precision and beauty of traditional Japanese woodblock heroes, Roig carries this artistic legacy forward with a modern twist, infusing his work with innovation and technical prowess. His prints are a celebration of artistic heritage and a bold exploration of contemporary aesthetics, making him a leading figure in the printmaking world.
